The CORE Mid-Term conference held at UNESCO Chair for Peace, Malaviya Centre for Peace Research at Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi on the 19th of March was widely covered in Indian Media. Both the Times of India and Hindustan Times reported from the successful conference that attracted a vast amount of participants and representatives from academia, civil society organizations, governmental institutions and the European Union.

On the 19th of March the CORE project will hold its mid-term conference at Banaras Hindu University in Varanasi, India, to present initial results from the research carried out in the project. Reports from the 6 case studies in Europe and India will be presented together with general reflections on the linkage between governance and conflict resolution from project members and international speakers.

The CORE project has now reached its first Milestone with so far 7 deliverables produced. All of the project deliverables can be found on the CORE website.

On 27 June the first Steering Committee Meeting was held in conjunction with the Workshop on `The Socio-Cultural and Political Premises of European and Indian Initiatives in Areas of Conflict Transition/Resolution´. The workshop was hosted by project partner Berghof Conflict Research (BCR) in Berlin and brought together project members to discuss initiatives and premises in areas of local peacebuilding and conflict resolution.

On February 11, the EU funded project CORE - The role of Governance in the Resolution of Socioeconomic and Political Conflict in India and Europe within the theme Cultures of Governance and Conflict Resolution in Europe and India,will hold its kick-off meeting. The meeting, which is by ‘invitation only’, will take place in Brussels at the European liason Office of the Norwegian Research Council.
