Birte Vogel is currently a PhD candidate at the Centre for Peace and Conflict Studies (CPCS) in St Andrews, where she also obtained her Masters in Peace and Conflict Studies. As part of the programme, she conducted fieldwork in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Her team specifically researched how culture influences peacebuilding initiatives in a post-conflict environment. Her current research project is on informal local systems of governance and their contribution to conflict resolution.
Prior to that, Birte has completed a B.A. in Economics and Political Science at the University of Münster, Germany. She also worked in the field of international cooperation with the German Gesellschaft für Technische Zusammenarbeit (GTZ) on a project aiming at strengthening local government structures in Afghanistan’s Northern provinces.
